Remembering A World Long Gone
Lately I’ve noticed a trend of looking back to the skills and memories of our older family and bringing them back to usefulness today.
Nostalgia. Memories in wood panel brown, harvest gold, olive greens. Sepia toned photographs.
I’ve spent time strolling lazily down memory lane as well. Each trip, I tend to bypass to not so pleasant memories and hone in on the good and useful.
The world I remember looks back at me in photos in fading sepia and black and white tones along side muted 70’s rounded edged prints. While living during those years, I would roll my eyes (or at least think it, as eye rolling was a good way to feel the wrath of which ever parent or family member that was speaking. I cringed at “back in my day” and the stories that followed. Now as I hone in on 50 years, I would give just about anything to go back and listen to those stories with interest, record them all, take lots of notes, etc. I did not appreciate the wealth that was presented in those stories. I sure do now!
Reminiscing about the past has been a fun thing. The good memories I hope to share here.
